The Samoa Housing Corporation was pleased to attend the second and final day of the first-ever Ministry of Public Enterprises (MPE) Public Enterprises Forum 2026.

While Day One focused on presentations from key Government agencies, Day Two centred on the experiences of Public Enterprises, providing an opportunity for selected panellists to openly share their experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and perspectives on leading and governing State-Owned Enterprises.

The panel discussions were moderated by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Public Enterprises, providing a platform for meaningful dialogue between Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o and Board representatives. The discussions touched on the realities of governance, leadership, decision-making, organisational challenges, accountability, and the experiences of SOEs in delivering on their respective mandates.

A key highlight of Day Two was the participation of SHC’s Madam Chairperson, Leaupepe Satui Bentin, as one of the selected panellists. Madam Chairperson shared her experiences on the Samoa Housing Corporation Board, reflecting on the journey from when the Board first commenced its tenure, the challenges encountered along the way, and the lessons gained through the Corporation’s continued development.

During the interview, Madam Chairperson reflected on the establishment of the Samoa Housing Corporation and its journey and progression over the years, highlighting the importance of a strong and collaborative relationship between the Board and the Chief Executive Officer in guiding the Corporation towards achieving its mandate. She shared insights into the SHC Board and Management’s experience in navigating the challenges encountered since she took office, particularly in balancing the Corporation’s social obligations to serve low-income families while maintaining financial sustainability and profitability to meet its obligations to Government through payment of dividends.

The Forum provided a valuable opportunity for SHC’s Board and Management to learn from the experiences of fellow public enterprises, exchange ideas, and gain perspectives that can contribute to strengthening governance and organisational performance.

The Samoa Housing Corporation acknowledges the Ministry of Public Enterprises for facilitating this inaugural Public Forum and for creating a platform for SOE Boards and leadership to engage in open dialogue, share experiences, and collectively consider ways to strengthen the performance and sustainability of Samoa’s State-Owned Enterprises.
